North Van, Edgemont Village - Your BC Home Hunter Neighbourhood's
(March 21, 2014
)
Storekeepers know the names of their customers; parents and children stroll the sidewalks enjoying the ever-changing window displays; and benches invite one and all to sit and rest a while with a latte or ice cream cone,tucked in beside one of the many beautiful plantings of flowers and foliage. From the butcher to the baker and everything in between the village is a one-stop shop for many local residents.
Many buyers request homes that are “walking distance to the Village”, a demand which has made property prices in the Village vicinity soar. Although many realtor's advertise that properties are located in “Edgemont Village” the real estate board does not identify this as a region. Edgemont Village is comprised of the two real estate areas known as Capilano and Capilano Highlands.
Capilano Highlands is a charming community and home to some of the most expensive real estate in North Vancouver. Developed in the late 1940′s, today streets are a combination of original 1950′s ranchers (one level, non basement homes), renovated homes and most recently large (4,000-5,500 square foot) craftsman homes.
Capilano is located beside the Capilano River which separates North Vancouver and West Vancouver. The area is small in size but growing in popularity as the demand to be close to Edgemont Village increases. Many new homes are being built along Paisley Road and its adjoining cul-de-sacs. Residents enjoy one of the newest and nicest children’s playgrounds in the area at Murdo Fraser Park which also features tennis courts, a duck pond and trail that leads up to Edgemont Village
